We had a great school dropoff this morning, and I want to thank everyone—parents, staff, DPW, and police—for making things go so smoothly.
- Tonight we will be making a major effort to remove snow from business districts, including the downtown area, upper Main Street, Melrose Highlands, West Wyoming Avenue, and Cedar Park. This will provide easier access to these areas.
- Also tonight, we will be removing snow from commuter lots to maximize parking for both commuters and people with overnight passes. This is a bit tricky because of overnight parking in these lots but we will do our best.
- The challenge all of us face now is that snow is melting in this 40-degree weather and then freezing overnight. We are going to have ice, including black ice, so please use caution when walking and driving.
- Please call the Department of Public Works directly at 781-665-0142 to report any problem areas, as they are continuing to work throughout the city, and this is the most direct form of communication.
Can you please try to make the other end of Sargent st wider as people take a right onto Briggs to travel down Sargent to go onto Franklin street to cut off Franklin square especially in the morning and around 5 pm in the pm . There is only enough room for one car at a time. Trying to get out of our driveway is hard enough but only one car getting by means that there are people backing up to Allow for the extra traffic. Please if you can maybe help us before there is a serous accident .
Thanks
Thanks for letting me know. I will pass this along to DPW.
I just wanted to offer kudos for the work that was done last night. I was impressed yesterday evening to see signs stuck in snowbanks informing people that parking was banned in that area during certain hours so snow removal could occur. I was pleased, this morning, to see the huge snow pile at the corner of Henry and West Highland knocked down, improving visibility at the bus stop for the charter school. I also thought that the snow removal in the area near the Melrose Highlands commuter rail stop looked great. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the kind words! I have passed them along to DPW.
