Check out the great article in the Boston Globe this morning about smart growth in Melrose.
While competition for single-family homes is strong — with most selling within a month of going on the market — Melrose is also attracting a wide range of new residents who like the easy commute and the relatively carefree lifestyle that comes with renting vs. owning.
“It’s a seven-minute walk to Oak Grove,” said Emily Bell, 30, who uses the Orange Line to get to her job in Boston.
As the Globe article points out, these new developments are the result of years of hard work and planning by our City Planner, Denise Gaffey, the Planning Office staff, and the Planning Board, and I want to commend them for their foresight and hard work in formulating a master plan for the city and guiding development so it’s the best possible fit for Melrose.
And to all our new neighbors, from far and near: Welcome!
