Operation Remember 2015

I had the honor of joining our Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School students, as well as veterans of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars, for Operation Remember in Washington, DC, last weekend. It coincided with V-E day and there were special ceremonies at the World War II monument. The middle school students interviewed all the veterans and gave a history of their service as well as remembrances of their experiences during those wars and conflicts. Our students had the great honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Saturday morning, as shown above. This was a real life history lesson for our students, and one of the veterans pointed out that altough this weekend was talking about the past, he was looking more toward the future with these fine Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School students who made the weekend so memorable.
