Help the Melrose Alliance Against Violence design this year’s Domestic Violence Awareness Bracelet! This fall, MAAV will celebrate its 20th Anniversary, and to mark that occasion the organization is holding a bracelet design contest.
Seven years ago, MAAV started a tradition of creating a Domestic Violence Awareness Bracelet that’s sold throughout the community during the month of October. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and it’s when MAAV hosts its biggest fundraiser, the Annual Walk & Candlelight Vigil.
This year, the community is invited to help design a special bracelet to mark MAAV’s 20th year. The contest is open to all; there is no minimum age and Melrose residency is NOT required. Bracelets cannot cost more than $10.00 each to make when supplies are purchased in bulk, and MAAV will need to produce 200 bracelets, so it must be a design that non-professionals can help produce. The bracelet needs to reflect the mission of MAAV and/or its 20th Anniversary, and should incorporate the color purple, which is the color for domestic violence awareness. The deadline for entries is May 31, 2015.
All the details about the contest rules and judging criteria are available here.
And save the date: MAAV’s 20th Annual Walk & Candlelight Vigil will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2015.
