The plans for a city-wide yard sale to benefit the Milano Senior Center are moving right along. The big day will be Saturday, September 19, 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. rain or shine.
This event is being organized by the Melrose Friends of the Aging, a volunteer-driven nonprofit 501(c)3 organization made up of residents who support the Milano Senior Center.
Join the fun and have a yard sale at your house on the same day as many of your neighbors. Registration forms are available at the Milano Center, Melrose City Hall, Melrose Public Library, Edward Jones’ office at 502 Main St., and can be downloaded here. Return your registration form, along with a $25 tax-deductible, non-refundable donation made payable to Melrose Friends of the Aging, to the Milano Center at 201 West Foster St., Melrose.
All those who register will have their location highlighted on the city map, which will be provided to eager shoppers. As the day draws nearer, registered participants will receive official signage to help shoppers locate their yard sale and to demonstrate participation in this important community fundraiser.
In addition to holding your own yard sale, consider joining with your neighbors for a neighborhood yard sale on that day. On the map, clusters of yard sales have proven to draw a lot of shoppers. Limited space is also available on the Beebe Estate side lawn for those who don’t have yard space.
The deadline for registration is Sunday, Sept. 13, 4 p.m. at the Victorian Fair—Council on Aging table. Imagine the excitement as yard sale shoppers begin traveling throughout the city following the “Finder” maps.
As in prior years, the “Yard Sale Finder” maps will be available closer to the date of the yard sale at the Milano Senior Center, the Melrose Public Library and online at http://www.cityofmelrose.org/coa. Watch for additional information in this publication in the coming weeks.
