The Melrose Education Foundation invites the Melrose community to support our educators and public schools by attending the 3rd annual Foundation Night Out fundraiser at the Beebe Estate on Saturday, September 19.
“Thanks to the generous support of private donors and the City of Melrose, the Foundation has awarded 80 grants, totaling more than $55,000 since our inception two years ago,” said Melrose Education Foundation President Lisa Lewis.
Grants provided through the Foundation have allowed teachers to attend national conferences, expand their curriculum materials, support Advanced Placement (AP) courses, try out inquiry- and project-based learning, and test new technology.
“People are really excited, not only about what the Foundation has done, but about what we can do in the future,” said Foundation Vice President Jen McAndrew. “Each year, we have seen an increase in applicants and interest from teachers district wide.”
The Foundation Night Out provides the Melrose community with an opportunity to learn more about the Foundation while enjoying music and mingling both inside the parlors of the 187-year-old Estate and outside under a classic white canopy. Foundation board members, School Superintendent Cyndy Taymore, Mayor Rob Dolan, and Melrose educators will be there to show their support and celebrate the Foundation. A cash bar as well as complimentary hors d’oeuvres and dessert will be provided.
“The Night Out has sold out two years in a row, so we invite everyone interested in supporting Melrose Public Schools to order their tickets as soon as possible,” said Lewis.
The Foundation’s Night Out begins at 7 pm at the Beebe Estate, 235 West Foster Street, Melrose. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased online at www.melroseedfoundation.org.
