This fall, Melrose Youth Soccer and local high school student volunteers will be teaming up with the US Youth Soccer TOPS Program (The Outreach Program for Soccer), a community based training and team placement program designed for young athletes with disabilities. Organized by a group of high school students from Melrose High School and Malden Catholic High School, and supported by Melrose Youth Soccer Board members, the Melrose TOPS program was created to bring the opportunity for learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl who has cognitive or physical disabilities. The four week season will start with a training session for volunteers on September 20th, from 2:30 to 3:30 on the Cabbage Patch Field in front of the Middle School in Melrose.
The following three Sundays, September 27th, October 4th, and October 11th, will be dedicated to hosting challenged participants from ages 5 to 17. It will also be held on the Cabbage Patch field from 2:30 until 3:30.
If you would like your son or daughter to participate, or have any questions, please contact Bob Lynch Galvin (email@example.com) or Christine Thorsteinsson (Christine.firstname.lastname@example.org).
