Please be aware that weather permitting, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and their contractor J. Tropeano Inc. have scheduled final roadway paving work along Upham Street from Bellevue Avenue to Felton Place and transitions along side streets in this corridor. Some additional paving will also take place on Lebanon Street between Main Street and Upham Street to prepare the roadway for the final course of pavement.
Paving work is scheduled to be performed on Monday, October 19, 2015. It will begin at 6:00 a.m. and will continue throughout the day, with an anticipated completion at or before 4:00 p.m.
During the paving process, these sections of roadway will be closed to all vehicles. Please anticipate detours throughout the day. Further, in order to proceed with this part of the project, it is essential that any/all vehicles be removed from the project site, as well as areas within 60 feet of each intersecting side street during this time period. Any vehicle in the project site after this time will be subject to towing. This will be strictly enforced during this phase of the project. Since this is the final course of paving, the roadway will remain closed for an extended period of time to allow for the material to strengthen so that traffic can be placed back on it.
Roadway, sidewalk and traffic signal work along Emerson Street and the balance of Lebanon Street from Main to Grove Street will continue Monday and throughout the upcoming weeks. Additional final paving will take place in late October and mid-November. More details on the additional paving dates will be distributed soon.
There will also be some additional sidewalk work upcoming on Main Street opposite Ell Pond; on East Emerson from Main to Lebanon; and on East Emerson from Rowe to Hillside. This work, which will replace existing bituminous concrete sidewalks with cement concrete sidewalks, will be performed by D&R General Contractors and is tentatively scheduled to start the week of 11/2/15 weather permitting.
Thank you all for the patience and cooperation extended throughout the various stages of this construction project. We stand committed in making every possible effort to keep any/all disruptions to a minimum during these last phases of work in the upcoming weeks. Anyone who has questions or requires a special/unique need during this period of construction should please call the Public Works Department @ 781-979-4172.
