Melrose High School Drama proudly kicks off the 2015/2016 Melrose Drama Season with the comic treasure, “Noises Off!” a play written by Michael Frayn and directed by Melrose Drama Director Adam Schuler. The play will be performed at the Melrose Performing Arts Center located at the Middle School on Friday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 24th at 7:00 p.m. with additional matinee performances on the 24th and 25th at 1:00 p.m. “Noises Off!” is often called the funniest play ever written and boasts a dynamic cast and crew of Melrose High School students, an enormous two-sided, two-story set, and more plates of sardines than you can count! “Noises Off!” promises to be the latest must-see event from the award winning Melrose Drama program!
“Noises Off!”’ tells the story of a play within a play, a chaotic backstage farce, complete with mistaken identities, doors slamming, and constant shenanigans. Each of the three acts contains a performance of the play within a play called “Nothing’s On.” Act One takes place at the disastrous final dress rehearsal. Act 2 is performed entirely through pantomime and is seen from a backstage view shortly after the play has opened. And the final act occurs months after “Nothing’s On” has opened when complete chaos has descended upon the company. The show has been described as “a spectacularly funny, peerless backstage farce” and a “festival of delirium.”
Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $7.00 for students and seniors and are available at the door. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this great Melrose Drama production!
