Superintendent of Schools Cyndy Taymore is announcing November is Education Month in Melrose. Listed below are events designed to provide families and community members with information about our schools and provide an opportunity to ask questions.
Welcome to Melrose Kindergarten
Come and hear our presentation that is sure to remove the mystery of Kindergarten registration, while mapping out education in Melrose. This event will take place on Thursday, November 12th from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the cafetorium at the Roosevelt School, 253 Vinton Street.
Parents/guardians are invited to tour the five elementary schools with the building administrator to view Kindergarten classrooms and find out what makes each school successful. Tours are scheduled for:
Monday, November 16th – Hoover, Horace Mann and Roosevelt Schools
Tour times: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, November 17th – Lincoln and Winthrop Schools
Tour times: 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Tours will be 40 minutes in length allowing for 20 minutes travel time between schools.
Families are invited to attend an 8th Grade Open House on Sunday, November 8th from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The program will begin in the cafeteria and will include a presentation from the administrative team, an opportunity to learn about curriculum from department directors, learn about student life, and a tour of the building.
While these events are aimed at students making the transition between levels, any family that is interested in the Melrose Public Schools is welcome to attend.
Melrose Parent University
Melrose Public Schools is proud to announce their partnership with the Melrose Education Foundation (MEF) in a morning of workshops for parents and caregivers of students Pre-K to 12 on Saturday, November 14th from 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School, 350 Lynn Fells Parkway. There are 17 different workshops to choose from including cybersafety, differentiation, teen issues, transition from Pre-K to K, Google Ed, Inside MHS, Getting to Know MVMMS, and more!
