Message from Principal Marianne Farrell

Here is a message that Principal Marianne Farrell sent out to the Melrose High School community today. The entire city joins with the Melrose school community in mourning the loss of this fine young man.

Dear Parents/Guardian:

It is with a very heavy heart that I can confirm the passing of Melrose High School student Robert Davey. Robert was struck by a train on Monday evening near the overpass of Lynn Fells Parkway and Tremont Street.

Grief counselors were made available today and will continue to be available over the coming weeks as students, staff and the community deal with this tragic loss.

Robert was well liked by students and staff at Melrose High School. We will remember his smile that would light up any room. He will also be remembered for his love of basketball. He was a dear friend to many, and will be greatly missed by our school community.

Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts as they continue to deal with this tragic loss.

Thank you,
Marianne Farrell
Principal, Melrose High School
