The haunting sound of a Cherokee flute draws us deep into the mountains and valleys of Appalachia as we perform art song, sacred song, and folk songs from the heart of the mountains. Join Beethoven Society member (and baritone) Mark Morgan and a quartet of professional singers and instrumentalists for this eclectic journey. Featured will be Barber’s Knoxville: Summer 1915, songs by John Jacob Niles, shapenote hymns, spirituals, folksongs—even some bluegrass! And of course that haunting Cherokee flute…

Presented by New England Light Opera. For more information visit www.newenglandlightopera.org

Funded in part by the Messina Fund for the Arts and the Melrose Local Cultural Council.
