Melrose Middle School Drama proudly presents an “An Evening of Shakespeare Gone Seuss” with two plays, “The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet” and “The Seussification of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Both plays were written by Peter Bloedel and are directed by Melrose Drama’s Margaret Maguire. The plays will both be performed on Friday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at the Melrose Performing Arts Center located at the Middle School, 350 Lynn Fells Parkway, Melrose, MA. Tickets will be available at the door.
The plays have been described as a “whimsical reinvention of Shakespeare’s works, complete with rhymed couplets, creative wordplay, and fantastical machines—similar to something Dr. Seuss might have come up with if he ever had his way with the script.”
“The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet” will also be performed as Melrose Middle School Drama’s entry into the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild’s 2016 Middle School Dramafest. Melrose will be performing at The Bromfield School, 14 Massachusetts Ave, Harvard, MA, on Saturday, April 30, at 4:15 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
