Melrose Makes List of Top Small Cities

Once again, Melrose has been recognized as one of the best places to live in America!

The personal finance site WalletHub looked at small cities across the country and ranked them according to five criteria: affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety. Out of over 1,200 cities, Melrose ranked #2 in Massachusetts and #26 on the overall list, putting it in the top 2% of small cities in the nation.

Here are the cities in Massachusetts that made the list:

#8 Milton
#26 Melrose
#33 Wellesley
#35 Northampton
#37 Lexington

“It’s nice to see another national website recognizing what we all already know—that Melrose is a great place to live,” said Mayor Robert J. Dolan. “We are fortunate to have beautiful homes, great shops and restaurants, and stunning natural resources. What the website can’t measure, though, is our sense of community. That, to me, is what makes Melrose really special.”

  1. Of course, our elected officials – Mayor Rob and aldermen/women have a lot to do with how well our city runs and why is is a gem.
