The Melrose Symphony continues its 99th Concert Season with music of Rossini, Vivaldi, and Tchaikovsky on Saturday, March 4, 2017, 8 pm in Memorial Hall. This program highlights current and past members of the Melrose Symphony including Erin Svoboda, Randy O’Keefe, and Matt Repucci.
Melrose native Erin Svoboda returns to play Rossini’s Theme and Variations for Clarinet and Orchestra. Svoboda, a graduate of Melrose High School and former member of the Melrose Symphony, is currently the Associate Principal Clarinetist with the Utah Symphony.
Randy O’Keefe and Matt Repucci, both current members of the Melrose Symphony, will perform Vivaldi’s iconic Concerto for Two Trumpets. Both trumpeters are also local teachers: Repucci is the Band Director for the Melrose Public Schools and O’Keefe has been the Band Director at Masconomet Regional School District for over 25 years.
The concert will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1, a lyrical and romantic piece which depicts frozen landscapes alongside Russian folk tunes.
