Melrose Drama Seniors Present ‘Into the Woods’ June 4 & 5

Come join some of your favorite Melrose Drama Seniors as they present their farewell production, the Tony Award winning “Into the Woods.” The classic Grimm’s fairy tale musical will be performed at the Melrose High School Learning Commons on Sunday June 4th and Monday June 5th at 7:00 PM with a matinee on Monday June 5th at 3:00PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and will be available at the door.

Produced, directed and performed solely by students from the Melrose Drama senior class, “Into the Woods” takes everyone’s favorite storybook characters and brings them to life in a timeless, yet relevant, modern classic. The musical tells the stories of the Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child, Cinderella, who wishes to go the King’s Festival, and Jack, who wishes his cow would give some milk. When the Baker and his wife are visited by the neighborhood witch, she reveals that she has placed a curse on their family and the two set off on a journey into the woods to reverse the curse. Also in the woods is Little Red, who is trying to visit her grandmother, the Big Bad Wolf, the Witch’s daughter Rapunzel, and two Princes who are desperately chasing after their loves. Though everyone’s’ wishes are finally granted, the consequences of their actions return to haunt them with disastrous results. The fairy tale community must come together to save each other and their kingdom!

With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, “Into the Woods” is sure to be another amazing production from the award winning students of Melrose Drama!
