The Beethoven Society of Melrose presents its final concert celebrating its 90th season of a myriad of musical genres. Offering classical, jazz, exotic, pop, and other styles to the community throughout the year, the June concert, Back to Broadway!, is lighthearted and pure fun. This year’s show brings back popular tunes of past concerts with a few new to keep you on your toes. Featured performers are Brendan Carroll, Christine Corbett, Jane Corrigan, Jean Dancewicz, Charles Donaldson, Marcy Holbrook, Carolina Lanney, Wayne Leslie, Regina Lucas, Mike Margolis and Tom Risser, with Mary Beth Mcateer-Margolis narrating.
A cup of talent, with a dash of humor, a sprinkle of wistfulness, and a pinch of pathos will cook up an afternoon of musical delight. Guests can sit where they like and enjoy complimentary refreshments. If anyone wishes, they can bring their favorite edibles and non-alcoholic beverages. There is no reserved seating.
BSM’s one and only fundraiser will still be free for those who love music and tapping their toes. However, each year the Beethoven Society provides several young musically talented high school seniors with music awards, supported by donations and grants from the Melrose Mass Cultural Council and the Melrose Messina Fund. Suggested donations are $15, but any and all are appreciated.
The show is at the Melrose Highlands Congregational Church, located at 355 Franklin St., Melrose, beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 11. Doors open at 2:30. Please join us and help support local music programs.
